Nick Oliveri Set To Release "Death Acoustic"

From Kyuss to Queens of the Stone Age to Mondo Generator to Solo Effort

Impedance and MVD Audio are pleased to announce the release of Nick Oliveri - Death Acoustic for North American distribution on October 6, 2009.

You may know him as the long haired bass player on the early Kyuss albums or as the mysterious Rex Everything in The Dwarves. Others will know him as one of the creative partners behind Queens Of The Stone Age and more recently the screaming front man of Mondo Generator. He is of course, Nick Oliveri... A man that should need no introduction to rock fans across the world.

Starting his musical career as a teenager with some friends from Palm Desert, California, Oliveri played bass and wrote a number of songs on the first two albums of desert rock pioneers Kyuss. The band would go on to establish them as a cult band worldwide and ensure high interest in all the members' future projects.

One of those projects became Oliveri's most successful commercial venture; it was of course Queens Of The Stone Age. Alongside song writing partner Josh Homme, Oliveri played on and co-wrote the bands two most critically acclaimed and successful albums Rated R and Songs For The Deaf.

After a split with the band in 2004, he focused his energies on his own band Mondo Generator, while also being a part time member of The Dwarves and playing bass in the very occasional band Moistboyz alongside members of Ween and Butthole Surfers. Soon enough, he will also be a featured guest on the forthcoming solo album of Slash.

Throughout his career delivering audiences wild and loud rock shows with the aforementioned bands, Oliveri has found time to play intimate, solo acoustic shows. Just him and his guitar, blending songs he has written for the bands he has played in, specifically written songs for the solo shows, and well chosen covers. In this format he has further showcased what a great songwriter and musician he is.

Death Acoustic is the result of these efforts; Oliveri spent the last twelve months in his home studio recording tracks for his solo album. In October it is unleashed with touring to back it up across the world over the last few months of this year and into next year.

Inakustik’s “Paris Concert” Series Released On Blu-ray Today

José Feliciano Band
Stanley Jordan
Larry Carlton / Robben Ford / Autour Du Blues
Mike Stern
Yellowjackets
Inakustik and MVD Visual are pleased to announce the release of “The Paris Concert” Series on Blu-ray disc for worldwide distribution on July 14, 2009.

As one of the largest independents in Germany, Inakustik is at the forefront of filming music content for DVD and now Blu-ray. Their endless praises have been sung by the press and the consumer alike. This set of Blu-ray releases come as little surprise given their affinity for detail and quality.

“Inakustik’s standards for image and sound are incredible,” said Ed Seaman, COO of MVD Entertainment Group. “We are thrilled to be aligned with such high integrity, high quality content providers. Blu-ray consumers are typically audiophiles, and these great Jazz and Blues artists are the perfect match for audiophiles.”

“The Paris Concert” Series consists of five titles…

José Feliciano Band “The Paris Concert”

This is the Blu-ray version of the first DVD ever released by José Feliciano! Recorded in High Definition at the New Morning Club Paris in August 2008, it was a thrill for the audience to welcome 6 time Grammy Award, Guitar & Singer great José Feliciano, backed by his superb 5 piece band. Throughout this compelling performance, combining effortlessly flamenco, bossa nova, pop and jazz influences with blues and rock lead guitar inflections, José delighted his fans with stunning interpretations of all times hits such as Purple Haze, Sunshine of Your Love and Rain. As today's uncontested No.1 Latin international crossover star, Feliciano has turned these standards, among many others, into jewels of musical groove so irresistible that it is almost impossible to separate them from the original versions. As José puts it: "If you can't interpret a song better than the original, don't do it”. Link to Hi Res Cover Art

Stanley Jordan “The Paris Concert”
Here's Jordan's moving New Morning concert of July 2007, backed up by Charnett Muffett and David Haynes, in all its Blu-ray splendor. As one of the most gifted guitarists of his generation, Stanley Jordan could easily content himself with the title of "uncontested master of the two-handed tap technique" which allows him to play rhythm and melody simultaneously, like a pianist or like two guitarists. This spectacular ability gained him fame and respect all over the world. Stanley Jordan is, however, much more than a top-class virtuoso. His interpretations of the grand repertoire (from Bird and 'Trane to John and Paul) are true masterpieces which boldly straddle tradition and new age. But the strength & depth of his multi-faceted diamond-like music stem from his early and unshakeable belief in the power of his art. For Stanley, making music has always been more than just entertainment; it is "in a world that needs it sorely, a genuine healing journey which will inspire & at the same time cure the soul, in the immediate and utterly therapeutic sense of the word". Larry Carlton / Robben Ford / Autour Du Blues “The Paris Concert”
In late 2006, the New Morning presented an incredible meeting of legendary blues players specially flown in from Nashville & Tokyo, to live it up in Paris. As the climax of the club's 25th Anniversary Festival - and a birthday gift from the musicians - this Franco-American guitar summit brought together for the first time the members of Autour du Blues (the cream of France's top studio musicians) and two of America's most brilliant guitar heroes, Larry Carlton and Robben Ford. The show was a smash success with the people of Paris. It took the enthusiasm and generous friendship of these musicians to make this memorable get-together happen at the New Morning - the club where you come to hear and to play the music you like with the people you like. All aboard, then, for this trip "Round About the Blues" (Autour du Blues) ... with Larry Carlton, Robben Ford, Francis Cabrel, Denys Lable, Michael Jones, Patrick Verbeke and their friends, united - for once beyond show business constraints - to give back to the blues what it has always given them... A real treat to be sure! Link to Hi Res Cover Art

Mike Stern “The Paris Concert”
Mike Stern is certainly one of the best electric guitarists of his generation. This has never been more obvious than in the extraordinary concert the 4 time Grammy nominee gave in the springtime of 2008 to a mesmerized New Morning audience. At the peak of his inspiration, improvising past all musical genres, Mike - superbly backed this time by brilliant drummer Dave Weckl, soulful tenor saxophonist Bob Franceschini and incredible bassist Tom Kennedy - takes his fans along into a journey of pure musical delight. Not a surprise that Mike concluded the evening by confiding, "I don't want to stop! They'll probably have to wheel me off the stage".

Yellowjackets “The Paris Concert”
In March 2008, internationally acclaimed fusion superstar group the Yellowjackets shared an unforgettable evening of Jazz at its very best with the New Morning audience in Paris. At the peak of their creative art, Bob Mintzer (saxophone), Russell Ferrante (keyboards), Jimmy Haslip (bass) and Marcus Baylor (drums) played with the unaltered intensity & jubilation of their 1981 debut when, as backing band for guitarist Robben Ford, they created the compelling, unmistakable Yellowjackets sound, combining bebop, funk, R&B and rock influences. In the course of their 25 year career, the challenging team of improvising masters - 14 time Grammy Award nominees & twice winners - has turned into a driving force in contemporary music. We are proud to offer the Yellowjackets' countless fans this jewel of musical sophistication & groove! Link to Hi Res Cover Art

MVD Audio and Blag Dahlia are pleased to announce the release of Candy Now! for worldwide distribution.

This retro lounge recording will delight and confound anyone who loves good music played with style and tongue held firmly in cheek. Creepy atmospheric tunes meet straight up power pop and all stops in between including country, swing, garage and novelty songs.

Featuring the vocals of Blag and Angelina Moysov (Persephone's Bees), these light and funny duets bring a whole new flavor to the smorgasbord of sounds you love from Dahlia and fellow producers Bradley Cook and Tom Ayres. Look for cameos by Nash Kato (Urge Overkill) and Bart Davenport (Honeycut).

“The Dwarves have been the nastiest band on earth for so long I wanted to do a real 360 and try to make something completely different," said Dahlia. GG Allin and Tesco Vee Limited-Edition Figures To Be Released By Aggronautix

Aggronautix is set to release limited-edition figures of GG Allin “1991” (2000 numbered) and Tesco Vee of the Meatmen (1000 numbered). Each “Throbblehead” figure stands at 7 inches tall, is made of a lightweight polyresin, and will be displayed in a tri-windowed box.

Both figures will be distributed by MVD Entertainment Group – a company specializing in music-related distribution since 1986 - and DKE Toys - a wholesale distributor of urban / vinyl / designer art / objects / toys / figurines.

“We normally don't carry bobbleheads but I was floored that the folks at Aggronautix would attempt this project,” said Dov Kelemer CEO of DKE Toys. “I figured that if I broke down and made an exception to actually put this (anti-)bobblehead in my collection that others would feel the same. GG Allin... WTF!?!?!?!”

The idea first surfaced two years ago when Aggronautix pitched the GG figure idea to Merle Allin, GG’s brother.

“I had been thinking about doing a GG figure for a while, so when the guys came to me with the idea, I was into it,” said Allin. “The proofing process took a long time, but we got it right. The doll looks really good and I’m happy with it.”

Aggronautix soon discovered another likely personality to polyresinate, Tesco Vee. He states, “As a toy collector of two decades, and classic bobble head collector, imagine just how geeked I became, when informed that yours truly would enter the pantheon of ‘Throbblehead’ punk rock losers, along with poopy soulmate GG Allin!”

The figures are now available for purchase on www.aggronautix.com and www.seeofsound.com will soon be available at many independent retailers, comic shops, tattoo parlors, etc.

Aggronautix is currently working on a Dwarves “Two-Headed Throbble” to be released this summer.

My Breakfast With Blassie (1983) comes to DVD on June 16th

Andy Kaufman hops a Hollywood bus and meets
professional wrestler "Classy" Freddie Blassie for breakfast

A full twenty five years after his death, Video Service Corp and MVD Visual celebrate Andy Kaufman’s unique brand of comedy with the release of My Breakfast With Blassie on June 16th. This film offers insight into the state of mind of Kaufman before his fatal cancer diagnosis, which some people to this day think was a hoax. Kaufman was memorably portrayed by Jim Carrey in the Milos Forman biopic Man On the Moon, which focused on Kaufman’s career and life, including his later obsession with professional wrestling.

My Breakfast With Blassie, filmed in 1983, features Kaufman and wrestling legend Fred Blassie, self-proclaimed King of Men and coiner of the phrase “pencil-necked geek,” as they meet for breakfast and discuss wrestling, hygiene, stardom and whether to eat bacon or sausage.

This classic piece of performance art from one of our greatest comedians was deemed, “often crude, but always creative,” by TV Guide and also features a heaping plate of bonus features, including lost footage of Kaufman, bonus footage, a making-of feature and more.

“Given our commitment to bringing quality comedy and classic performances to DVD, we’re thrilled to release this,” stated VSC President Jonathan Gross, “Andy Kaufman made a career creating his own theatre of the absurd that blurred the lines between comedy and public disturbance long before Tom Green, Sascha Baron Cohen and Johnny Knoxville's crew.”

Here's an excerpt from the film

Rhino Bucket to release "The Hardest Town"

Available on CD - May 5, 2009 (Acetate / MVD Audio) Joined by former AC/DC drummer Simon Wright, Rhino Bucket once again delivers their distinct brand of three chord boogie rock n' roll unlike any other on their latest release, "The Hardest Town". 2006 marked return of Rhino Bucket after a 10 year lapse, with the release of “And Then It Got Ugly”. Picking up where the band left off, they introduced their newest member, guitarist Brian "Damage" Forsythe of KIX fame. A full scale US tour followed, including dates with Supersuckers, Velvet Revolver and a performance at the infamous Rocklahoma festival.

2009 will bring a US tour, including the "Rock Gone Wild" festival, and performances on the European festival circuit. Rhino Bucket’s “Welcome To Hell” is featured in the highly acclaimed Mickey Rourke film, The Wrestler. They can also be heard on hit TV shows The Unit, Knight Rider and Sons Of Anarchy as well as Fuel TV, MTV and FOX Sports.

"Three chords and a cloud of dust" is how Rhino Bucket singer/guitarist Georg Dolivo describes his band's brand of blue collar Rock.

Signed to Warner Bros. in 1990, Rhino Bucket's self-titled debut yielded two singles “One Night Stand" and "Blood on the Cross," which heaved them to the Billboard Top 40 singles chart and made them regulars on MTV's Headbanger's Ball. Tours with The Black Crowes, Angel City and Junkyard (to name a few) ensued.

1992's follow up "Get Used to It" was recorded by legendary producer Terry Manning (Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top) and spawned the single "Ride with Yourself," which landed on the soundtrack to the blockbuster film Wayne's World. In 1993 former AC/DC drummer Simon Wright joined the band for the recording of their third album, 1994's "Pain". This line-up toured relentlessly until 1995 when the band took what turned out to be an extend-ed hiatus. Never ones to say die, a one-off sold-out reunion gig in 2000 inspired Georg and bassist Reeve Downes to reform the band with original drummer Liam Jason and ex-KIX guitarist Brian "Damage" Forsythe.

"Rock n' Roll is like a disease," laughs Dolivo. "Once you've got it, you're stuck with it. I've tried blues and coun-try and all sorts of different styles, but I always come back to the rock. Maybe I'm just a one trick pony, but I really like the trick I know."

The band hit the L.A. clubs and found their reputation had grown substantially. They stormed the scene, gained the attention of hip indie label Acetate Records, and started to buckle down to pen some new tunes.

"We were asked to write some music for the movie Rolling Kansas," recalls Forsythe of their first soundtrack endeavour together - more followed, including the flicks Stateside, The Outdoorsmen and TV's The Handler - "and the more music we made together, it just felt right. Georg has an idea and starts playing some lick, some-one will join in, an idea is born and we all jump in on it. It's this chemistry thing."

That chemistry is all over their 2006 release "And Then It Got Ugly" . From the explosive riffs to the soulful vocals and heartfelt lyrics, it is a much needed shot of no frills Rock n' Roll that the music scene desperately craves.

Needless to say, more touring with friends like The Supersuckers and KIX followed well into 2007, a year which also saw the return of drummer Simon Wright at the Rocklahoma festival.

Currently, Rhino Bucket is concentrating on "The Hardest Town" and in the midst of setting up U.S. and European tour dates.
